Ocean Grace Pendant
Hello Everybody! Today I will write about how to make this beautiful pendant for all you sea-loving souls.
As always, it’s time you scavenge some items to get started!
- Water ripple mold (I bought mine off Etsy).
- Ocean-blue pigment or liquid dye.
- Grace sticker (mine had golden lettering I got at Hobby Lobby).
- Screw-in eyelet.
- Stainless steel chain.
- Pinch bail.
- Small mixing cup.
- Popsicle sticks (or any other stirring tools you use).
- One toothpick.
- Glue (I recommend using G-S Hypo Cement).
Now that you have all that you need, it’s time to get started!
Steps
- The Grace Layer
For this step, the first thing you will do is take a little bit of clear resin to create a thin layer. Once you have your thin later at the bottom, you’re going to take your toothpick, and have the point of it touching the sticky part of your sticker. This will help you move the sticker into the resin. The best way to do this and avoid bubbles is to carefully have one side touch the resin, then start to slowly lay it down to its other end. After its flat on the surface, you can push it down into the resin to fully encase it. After you do this, you’ll have to let the resin cure enough to either the tacky stage or until it’s fully cured.
- Ocean Blues
When you’ve waited long enough, mix up your blue dye and/ or pigments with new resin. Use the blue resin to fill the mold the rest of the way. After you’ve filled the mold with blue resin, let the resin cure.
- Demolding Your Piece
Now that you’ve waited for your piece to fully cure, you can remove your piece from the mold and see how it turned out.
- Drilling and Screwing
Now it’s time to drill into the top of your piece, carefully going the depth of how far the screw-in eyelet will go. After you’ve drilled in far enough, apply the glue either into the hole, or onto the eyelet. Either way, after adding some glue, screw the eyelet into the hole, then let it dry.
- Final Touches
With the glue now dried and your eyelet screwed in, it’s time to wrap this project up in a neat little bow! Grab your pinch bail and squeeze it around the eyelet so it goes through it. After that, just attach your chain and then you’re done!
I hope you all found this guide to be helpful and that you were able to create a beautiful pendant to wear anywhere you go. Enjoy the rest of your day, and stay creative!
