Glittering Heart Box

Hello Everyone! Today I will guide you on how to make this gorgeous heart box for jewelry or other small treasures.

The first thing you’ll need is to collect these items:

  1. Heart-shaped box mold or molds (the one I was able to find came from Etsy).
  2. At least one color of dye, but you can use more than one.
  3. Glitter.
  4. Pigment powders for extra shimmer (if you want).
  5. Resin (For this I used epoxy resin).

Now that you have everything, it’s time to get started!

1. Mixing and Pouring

You’ll need to mix up your resin, then divide it evenly between 2 medium cups of resin. Use the dye or pigment powder to color each cup a different color. Once you are satisfied with your colors, add your glitter in.

Once you have it all mixed and to your liking, go ahead and bring over your molds! The first thing you’ll do is only pour a little bit of one color into the base mold, and a little bit of the second color into the lid mold. Move the molds around slowly and let the resin fully cover the bottom. This helps to avoid any bubbles along the bottom edges in the mold.

Before pouring any further, wait 12 to 15 minutes (ONLY if this is epoxy resin), allowing the resin to thicken a little. This is so that the colors won’t blend and mix together too much and make your layers harder to see. After waiting for your resin to start thickening, go ahead and begin pouring. Do small amounts, alternating colors, and continue till you fill it up to the top. After both the molds are filled up, allow the resin to cure the rest of the way.

** In my example piece, I only waited 12 minutes, and my magenta and purple colors blended. Keep in mind, though, that times will vary between different brands of epoxy. **

2. Dazzling Demolding

After the resin is cured all the way, remove the pieces from the mold, and test fit them. All you have to do now is find something shiny to put into it!

I hope you all found this guide to be easy and pleasing with the results. Enjoy the rest of your day, and remember to stay creative!
