Hello Everyone! Today I will guide you through how to make your own Autumn Coasters for a nice mug of coffee. Before we begin, you will need these listed items:
- Metallic Artificial Leaves (or any other kind if you have a preference, so long as the theme colors are autumn).
- Coaster Mold(s).
- Brown and Red Glitters (if you want the coasters to sparkle).
- Coffee Brown Pigment Powder.
- Popsicle Sticks (or any other disposable mixing tool).
- Mixing cups.
- Tweezers.
- Kumin Felt (or any other sticky-back felt).
- Your Favorite Mug.
Once you have everything, you can begin!
- The First Layer
This will depend on if you want the top or bottom of the mold to be the top layer of the coaster. For this, the bottom of the mold was the top of the coaster. You’ll mix a cup of clear resin (the amount will depend on how many coasters you are making at once), and then pour a thin layer in the bottom of the mold to cover it. (Please be sure that it is a full layer and not just a partial layer in the middle). After that, you will take your tweezers and use it to grab the fake leaves of your choosing. Gently place as many as you want into the resin and push them down to the bottom. All you’ll have to do now is let the first layer cure.
- The Second layer
After your first layer is cured, you’ll mix a second batch of resin. Apply your pigment powder into the resin till it’s as thick as you want, or as translucent as you want. Next, you’ll add your red and brown glitters into your second batch. Once everything is all mixed up, you’ll pour your resin into the coaster mold and fill it all the way up. All that is left for you to do is wait for the resin to fully cure.
- Demold the Coasters
After you’ve waited for your coasters to fully cure, now all you’ll need to do is to remove your coasters from the mold, and see how your piece came out.
Now, the alternative to doing this would be to do the steps backwards, but you would need 3 layers. For example, if you wanted the bottom of the coaster to be on the bottom, you would have to pour that layer first. Next, you would pour a second layer, not filling it all the way, and applying your leaves into that layer and pressing them down. Finally, you would make another clear layer and pour it to fill the mold the rest of the way.
- Cover the Bottom
The final step now is to add felt on the bottom of your coaster. You don’t have to if you don’t want to, but I would recommend it to keep it from scratching your tables. Simply cut felt into the shape you want it on your coaster, peel the paper off the back, then stick it on the bottom. Finally, you can now use your coaster!
I hope you found this guide useful and that you’ll enjoy your lovely coasters. Have a good day, and remember, stay creative, and enjoy that coffee!
